How it started

May 5, 2011

Several years ago a friend of mine approached me, knowing I was a songwriter/producer with a recording studio, and asked if I could help put music to some words that a friend of his had written for his fiancé to share with her on their wedding day.  Not really knowing any better I said “Sure!” and when all was “sung and done”, they loved it!   He not only had the music for his song but I added a Bridge and recorded it and gave it to them as Tracks for him to sing to his bride at their wedding.  Needless to say, she was surprised and elated, and as the saying goes – “The rest is history…”

Since that day, we at Heartmade Songs have had the privilege of writing and recording numerous pieces for many grateful recipients and even added a new dimension to the music by creating Heartmade Songs Musical Video Treasures.

My Mom & Dad

One of the most meaningful gifts I have ever had the opportunity to give was in collaboration with my brother in putting together a Musical Video Treasure for my parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary.  My Mother had been suffering from Alzheimer’s for several years and now was at the point where she really didn’t recognize anyone other than my father, who was always by her side.

Being inspired by his loving faithfulness and unwavering devotion to her, I wrote the story of their lives and marriage in a song and called it “I’ll Be Here Forever”.  We then took the music and put it into a beautiful video format filled with lots of pictures ranging from their childhood to their wedding day to photo memories with their children, (my brother and myself), and even their grandchildren.  When we showed the video at their 50th Anniversary celebration with all their lifetime friends and family present, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place…  In fact, I don’t know how much she was able to take it in, due to her Alzheimer’s, but that was the last day my Mom ever looked at me and told me “I love you”, something she hadn’t done in years.  I will forever treasure that moment.

Since then, my Father told me he has watched the video with their song and pictures over and over again and has continued to be inspired and encouraged to be strong in his love and commitment and to always be there for his bride of 50+ years.  Now I find that I am learning from him, in a way I never have before.

What a gift to have been able to bless my loved ones with a timeless treasure that, in time has turned around and given me such joy in return.

Grateful and blessed…
